Sitter in New Orleans, Louisiana

I'm an
Individual
The short story of me: after high school graduation while still pondering what it was I wanted to do for the rest of my life, I took a summer nanny job in Boston for a family of five. I have never been so completely happy with that choice. For a young girl coming from Californinia, Boston was an entirely new world to me. Thus, I ended up staying on with this family for two more years. With a trunk full of memories and . sad tears of goodbye, I drove away from Newton, Mass and down to New Orleans, Louisiana to start my junior year at Loyola University. I was always fascinated by the world's religions, in a comparative sense, and thought this to be the perfect major for me. But having always worked since I was 15, I needed a job to help off-set tuition. Some friends-of-friends told me of a family they knew that was in desperate need of a nanny. This particular family was a bit like musical royalty in New Orleans. I took the job eagerly--I already knew I loved this city, and I couldn't wait to be the Mary Poppins to these four terrific individuals. I was literally brought into their family & felt like a member from day 1. I had the fortunate experience to go on tour with them and manage all their tutoring. My professors were unendingly generous to me when it came time to touring during my own testing time, but nothing that a free concert ticket or two couldn't straighten out! I stayed with this family for a total of six years. Moving back to California in 1999, I took a job as a fifth grade teacher at a Catholic school in Los Angeles, remaining there until 2003. In late 2003 my father fell ill with leukemia, subsequently dying in 2005. At that point, my mother kept suffering a series of falls and a disgnosis of Alzheimers. My daughter (who will be graduating HS in May) and I moved in with my mother to assist her. This was a very tough time. Desperately wanting to move back to NO, I knew I couldn't until Bella was off to college and until my mother was safely in someone else's charge. As mentioned earlier, Bella graduates in May of 2017--but, sadly I lost my mother this last May. I see life as a constant series of struggles, but it is HOW we deal with those struggles that sets us apart from the ones that simply go through the motion. I would love to find a family to not only work for, but to sing songs with, turn snapping green beans into a fun activity. If you think I might be the right fit for your family, don't hesitate to call me! Oh, also, I am NOT allergic to cats, LOVE dogs, am a fairly good cook, am CPR/First Aid certified and would prefer a live -in situation.
