I started caring for children at the age of 16. I worked for a couple that went to my church and was with them for about 2 years, they just had one little boy that was 2 years old and soon after she got pregnant with a little girl. My responsibilities were mainly to tend to the kids while she worked. My 2nd child care experience, I worked for a lady that started an at-home day care and the ages started at 6 weeks-10 months old. We dealt with on a daily basis with about 8 to 9 babies at a time between the two of us. My responsibilities were to feed, change or bathe or give medications to the ones that needed it and I worked for her for about a year. My 3rd job as a caregiver was for a family I grew up with. I took care of there youngest son who was 10 months until he turned 2 years old. They usually would bring him over to my house in the mornings around 7:00 a.m. and my main responsibilities were just making sure he had his naps, was fed and bathed if needed to be cleaned up before they arrived. I also believe at even a young age that it is important to have learning activities which I usually would do throughout the day with him and it was very rewarding for me to see his progress as he got older. I also worked as an assistant preschool teacher for about 8 months. My main responsibilities were teaching the children and setting up learning activities as well as potty training. I also worked with an autistic kid as well and worked with him one on one. I am very passionate at what I do because children have always been a big part of my life. Also I have always wanted to have a little one of my own, but until then this will have to do, but I enjoy every minute of it!
