Sitter in Elmhurst, Illinois

Hello! My name is Margaret and currently I am a student at the University of Michigan. I have over 5 years of experience with working with children. My passion for working with kids began when I started umping children's baseball/softball games. I have been an umpire for Elmhurst Baseball League for nine years, and continue to ump games for older children. Because of umping, I wanted to get to know kids on a more personal level. so I volunteered to be a camp counselor for Tommy's Camp, a camp for children who have lost a loved one. After this, I decided to become a babysitter. I have been a babysitter for about 5 years, taking care of a wide range of children such as babies (4-16 month-olds), toddlers (2-3 year-olds), young children (4-9 year-olds), and preteens (10-12-year-olds). Last year I was a camp counselor full time for Bensenville Park District. I was in charge of caring for over 60 kids between the ages of 5 and 11, as well as some kids with special needs (autism, ADD, and ADHD). I love being active, especially outdoors! As a camp counselor, we took daily trips to the pool or park, so I'm experienced with watching children in large public areas. I used to play volleyball in high school, and before that I played pretty much every sport, including softball, basketball, iceskating, track and cross country. I would love to play with your children, not only just watch as they engage in healthy activities, but get involved and have fun with them. As for music and drama, I love both. I was a member of my high school choir, and I also play the piano. I love musicals and plays, and was involved with the behind the scene aspects of two productions at Michigan. I also love arts and crafts! While a camp counselor, one of my jobs was coming up with weekly crafts that the kids could do. Because of this, I have a whole binder full of arts and crafts ideas, including how to make a mini Olaf from Frozen and a mini ocean in a bag. I have a car at my disposal, so I will be able to transport your kiddos wherever needed. In addition to transportation, I have experience with food preparation, as I had to prepare breakfast for the children in my camps as well as a snack in the afternoon.
