My name is Sandra Vacho. I am mom to 4 grown children and 6 beautiful granddaughters. In addition to raising my 4 children and caring for my granddaughters (including raising the eldest who is now 12) I have much experience with children. A little about my background: I have volunteered in the schools, volunteered in my church's children's ministry including the nursery and VBS. I have run a home day care before. I have worked as a teacher and assistant teacher at center based day cares. I have worked with all ages from infants to school age. While working for Buttons N Bows Christian Learning Center in San Antonio I was a floater working all age groups from infant to school age. While working for Day Star in Alexandria, Virginia I started out as an Assistant Teacher in the 2-year-old room and also floated for lunches and as needed as a substitute teacher. A month or two into my time at Day star I was given the chance to run a special class for children who were for various reasons having trouble fitting into the class with their peers. I was able to custom design curriculum for each child in my class, including a set of 4-year-old twins from Turkey who didn't speak English! :) The hours for my home daycare are generally Mon - Fri 6:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Evenings and weekends by advance notice only. My rates are $150 per week for infants under 12 months (assuming 5 days a week Mon - Fri not more than 10 hours per day) and $120 per week for children over 12 months to 5 years. For before/after school or drop in care rates are $10 per hour, if transportation is needed there is a $5 charge each way (am and pm).
