Caring for young children has never been a job as much as a heartfelt joy. My first two children were born while I was a Phd student in Mathematical Fluid Dynamics and Flame Propagation at UC, Berkeley. When my eldest was four, I was offered an appointment in the Mechanical Engineering department of Chico States University, which brought my true love into sharp focus. I turned down the appointment and have spent the last 25 years caring for children. Below is a brief narrative of my path to becoming a nanny. In part this calling was born of a decade of experience caring for the preschool children of homeschooling families enrolled in Hearthstone Charter School. I formed a close and lasting relationship with these families. After my first three went off to Sarah Lawrence and Evergreen Colleges and my youngest graduated from Pacific Boychoir Academy, I decided that I would either open another preschool or become a nanny. Now that I am a few years away from an empty nest, I have decided that I want to be a modern Mary Poppins for a loving family. I have attached two photos of my son and I, one outside of St. Augustine after his Spring Concert with Pacific Boychoir, and the other on our backpacking trip through the Yosemite Grand Canyon in Tuolmne Meadows.
