Sitter in Grand Junction, Colorado

Hi there! My husband and I have recently moved from Texas to the Grand Junction area, and I’m looking forward to continue working in child development with the right family. MY CHILD-CARE BACKGROUND I began working with kids as camp counselor, and as a tutor for a family of 4 siblings during college. Throughout my studies and professional work (journalism, writing, teaching, and art), I have continued my focus in child development and caregiving, as a part time teacher, tutor, au-pair, mentor, caregiver, personal assistant, and nanny. I love working with kids! One of my strengths is keen-observation, which helps determine unspoken needs, and in building relationships with the whole family over time. The relationships and time I have invested in caregiving are extremely rewarding and valuable, both to me and to the families I've cared for. EXPERIENCE In the past 23 years I have cared for infants to elementary-age children and also invested many years working with future adults in 6th-12th grade as a tutor, nanny, and Spanish teacher. I am also a very involved and proud aunt of four nephews and a niece (ages 6-16!). Most recently, from 2010-201..., I was a nanny/tutor/mentor for a family of three siblings, who I still consider my “little sisters.” In 2017-18 I worked as a mentor for high school art students. A BIT MORE ABOUT ME I am a watercolorist (TaumaWigginsArt.....) with a background in writing/journalism and the creator and director of Young Artists in Studio, a business-mentorship program for art students in underfunded high schools.
