Sitter in Los Angeles, California

Hey there Sitter families! My name is Jeremiah. I moved to Los Angeles in 2015 from the rainy city Seattle Washington.  In Seattle I managed my own afterschool workshops teaching gymnastics and hip-hop dance classes and loved it.  I moved to LA and now work at Overland Elementary teaching fitness classes in the morning to the whole school. Its pretty exciting stuff. I have also worked with K4, K5 and school-agers. One of the things I enjoy most about my job is teaching through music and dance: I love coming up with creative ways to stay active and not sit in front of a T.V. or phone all day. I am also passionate about reading with children. One of the most memorable lessons I’ve learned through childcare is the importance of posture. A mentor once encouraged me when talking with a child to stoop down and meet her face-to-face at her level. To me, this is a great metaphor for childcare as a whole: I believe working with children is not about managing them from a higher position, it is about coming alongside of younger human beings at their level in order to help them grow and eventually thrive as mature adults. Ironically, the more I work with kids, the more I discover that it is I who am also learning and growing. I look forward to the adventure of learning alongside of you and your children!
