To whom it may concern, I recently graduated with honours from the Bachelor of Fine Arts program at Queen’s University, specializing in painting. During my time in the program, I strengthened my creative ability and have become well-versed in solving problems with novel approaches and considering things from unconventional angles. I am currently in my first year in the Bachelor of Education program (Primary/Junior division) at University of Ottawa. I completed my placement as a Teacher Candidate in a kindergarten classroom, where I planned activities and lesson using play-based and inquiry-based learning models. In addition to my experience thus far in the education program at U of O, I have ample experience in working with kids from ages 1-15. I have 10 years of experience as a French/Math tutor from Grades 3-11, 3 years of experience working in an outreach program for children from disadvantaged families, both as a mentor and a supervisor, and have also spent time volunteering in a Primary classroom as a teacher’s assistant. During my time as a supervisor in the outreach program, I was responsible for planning and preparing a weekly itinerary for a group of child-mentor pairs. This included a craft, physical activity, and snack which followed a different theme each week. I am very passionate about helping kids learn and grow and have worked with kids with a variety of exceptionalities, ranging from learning disabilities to developmental disabilities. In all, I feel very strongly that my wealth of knowledge and experience in working with children makes me an excellent candidate for childcare-related work! Thank you for your time and consideration.
