Hello! My name is Kenny Trinh and I am 19 years old. I am currently enrolled at the University of Toronto. Now why would I be the right baby sitter? Back in 2016, I worked at a Summer camp called Kidnetix. I was a counsellor for kids between the age of 4-12. This was a huge learning experience for me and I enjoyed every bit! It gave me the ability to see and understand how different every kid is from each other and how to handle them. But regardless, I was still able to have an authoritive voice when I needed the kids to listen to me but still be that fun and kind counsellor that everyone loved! When I am watching 30 kids with only 3 other counsellors, I have a large responsibility. This includes keeping the environment they are in safe without hazards such as cleaning up messes made during lunch and snack time, sweeping and mopping to clean the play area, and even cleaning washrooms. With all the skills I learned from the Summer Camp, it definitely can be applicable to when I am babysitting. I will have no problem picking up kids from school safely when crossing the streets or getting on to public transit if needed. When I am at the house/apartment I am taking care of the kids at, I will definitely not let them out of my sight and follow instructions kept by the parent(s)! :) The other 3 places I’ve worked were for Fran’s Restaurant, Maggie’s (at CNE), and Vienna’s (at CNE). At all 3 jobs, I would be preparing and cooking foods and cleaning. If I needed to prepare a meal for the kid(s), I would have no problem with that especially because I enjoy cooking as well! After I’m done, I will certainly clean up after myself to make sure there are no hazards. I have many leader qualities as I have participated in Leadership Camp, volunteered on an overnight camp trip for 4 days for teens, and I am currently also the Student Council President where I plan and organize school wide events. Having these leadership qualities allow me to take initiative without a doubt and making myself an organized person.
