Hello, my name is Jessica and I am a 23-year-old college graduate with a passion for children. In 2015 I graduated from Southeastern University with my BS in Psychology. Throughout my college journey I took many child development classes as well as some early childhood education classes. I started childcare when I was 12-years-old at my church and my love for children grew from there. In the beginning I did nursery on Sunday mornings, which grew to babysitting during the week while parents were in bible studies. From then on, childcare continued to be a part of my life. I gained experience with newborns up to older elementary kids. In college, I nannied for a 7-year-old little girl with Asperger’s for a just over a year. She was book smart but her social skills were not on par. We worked every day on self-esteem, self-care, and how to socialize properly. She impacted my life so much and taught me as much as I taught her. From there, I moved onto working at a children’s group home. In layman’s terms, an orphanage. My husband and I were house parents which mean we lived in a house on the campus and housed and cared for anywhere from 5 to 8 kids at a time. Throughout my time in childcare I have worked with newborns all the way up to 18-year-olds, and children on all aspects of the behavioral/emotional/mental spectrum. My time with kids has been invaluable and I am a better person because of each one of those children. My husband and I have been married for almost four years and have three wonderful dogs. He understands my passion for children and has allowed me to follow my dreams of working alongside families to raise up strong, intelligent, competent, and kind future leaders. I am CPR, first aid/AED, and water safety certified, and I had weekly childcare trainings during my year at the Children’s Home. I look forward to building connections on here and finding the next family that I can serve.
