Hi, My name is Katelyn. I am 26 years old and have been working with children for many years. They are the true light in life. I spent time volunteering with the Buddy Program and teaching STARS while in High school. I also spent many of my younger years babysitting. In my early 20’s I had the opportunity to nanny for two girls who were four and five. We had so much fun together. Between tea parties, nail painting, sunscreen ice skating rinks and baking the days seemed to always fly by! I have two years of college under my belt. My focus was in Psychology. The human mind fascinates me. After some quality classroom time I decided I wanted to explore the world, and I did. I spent the next few years working, and traveling. I have been to Southeast Asia twice and Central America once. My two favorite places are Bali and Costa Rica. During my second trip to Thailand I buckled down and got my 200 hour Yoga Teacher Training Certification. This has truly helped me in all aspects of life. After being back in the States for sometime, I decided I wanted to start working with Children again. I went down to volunteer at the local School District where I was living at the time and they offered me a job! I worked as a substitute for about 8 months until it turned into a permanent position. I worked mostly with Elementary and High School age kids and my primary focus was in the Special Day classes! My boss told I have a gift when it comes to kids and she hopes I’d pursue a career working with them. Life is kind of a rollercoaster and I have been blessed to experience and explore quite a bit in my 26 years. Like I said before, I believe children are the light in life and they teach us sometimes even more than we teach them. It’s all about perspective, positivity, redirection and communication when it comes to handling difficult situations with kiddos. I believe kindness and love are the most important things to focus on when in the presence of a child. I would love to get to know you and your family more.
