Hi, I'm Morgan! I acquired a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology with a concentration in child psychology and education. Additionally, I have a minor in Leadership Studies from the East Carolina University in Greenville, North Carolina. As a psychology major, I will use my understanding of childhood trauma and developmental stages and apply what I have learned on how to interact with children in different environments. Also, my previous experience at Building Hope Community Life Center, where I worked with elementary school students on their strengths and weaknesses, has increased my awareness of psychological concepts, behavioral analysis, intervention techniques and developmental growth in youth. I was a teacher and mentor to students that could possibly be socially and academically at-risk. I am ready to apply my psychological coursework and the direct observational learning to work with youth in a professional, compassionate way. I have my teaching license for middle grades general and social science, as well as language arts. I have my official statement of status of eligibility for general and social sciences (5-9), through FLDOE. I taught 7th grade Language Arts and Reading at Northwestern middle school. I was able to effectively manage a classroom with many disciplinary problems. My students’ education was my main priority. I incorporated technology into my lesson to capture my students attention. I positively reinforced my students with praise and privileges for their hard work and preparation in my class. I followed the Florida state teaching standards for 7th grade utilizing CPalms as well as other teaching tools. I was a long-term teacher at Somerset Pines Charter School in 2017 and the assignments involved team-teaching language arts, reading and social sciences to students at an intermediate grade level. This assignment required teaching reading, writing, spelling, grammar and basic journalism skills. My dedication to students and to learning extends beyond the regular classroom situation. As a psychology major, I will use my understanding of childhood trauma and developmental stages and apply what I have learned on how to interact with children in different environments.
