My name is Haley. I am an 18-year-old student. I am currently taking grade 13 for one semester. In a year, I would like to attend Brock University to gain an undergraduate degree in Child Health. From this I would like to then go for my master’s degree in Child life specialist or Teaching. But to help better my knowledge of children I would like to take some time out of my academics to have different life experience, and to reflect on my future academic/professional orientation. To this end I think spending 6 months abroad would be particularly interesting. My first language is, of course English, and I also have basic knowledge of French. I speak English in my home life and at school, but I have taken French courses in the past through elementary to secondary. In 2013, I went on an exchange for a month to France to learn about the culture and to help improve my French speaking skills. From this exchange, I fell in love with traveling and being able to meet new people all over the world When it comes to leisure, I take pleasure in the simple things in life. I enjoy being outdoors, being with friends, going for walks with my dog and visiting places I have not been to. I also enjoy playing sports. I have played competitive hockey since I was 8 years old both in school and on a local sports team. One of my greatest sports accomplishments is bringing a Girls Rugby team to my high school with a classmate of mine. Our school rugby team is now a very well-known team as we get 50 girls at tryouts!
