I'm an
Individual
Hi! My name is Lily, I'm nineteen, and a first-year student at Harvard University. I'm an aspiring child psychiatrist majoring in Cognitive and Behavioral Neuroscience with a secondary in Political Science on a pre-med track. I'm a dual Canadian-American who grew up in NYC, but my family recently moved back to Canada. I'm home in Toronto from Harvard for the winter holidays, and would love to babysit and/or tutor for the month of January. I am fully-vaxed (including booster) and adhere Covid precautions—your child's health and safety is my priority. I'm bubbly, fun, reliable, responsible, and I adore kids! If you need someone who can run around with the kids, go ice skating, do arts and crafts, play sports, have karaoke/dance parties, read books, help out with homework or online school, and come up with creative games, I'm your girl! Especially with the recent increase in COVID cases and restrictions, and a temporary return to online school, I know kids are starting to go stir-crazy. I'm hoping to help keep things fun in any way I can. I can cook, do light housekeeping, and care for pets as well. I have over five years of childcare experience, including babysitting, tutoring, volunteering, and working as a camp counselor. I've cared for children from ages as young as one to as old as fifteen. This past summer I worked as a camp counselor at an overnight camp (Camp Manitou in Parry Sound). I was the senior counselor living with a cabin of 10 seven/eight-year-olds in the "fresh kids" unit for the first session, and a cabin of fifteen-year-olds for the second session. I absolutely loved working with both age groups. Responsibilities included: hygiene, health, medications, bed-time and wake-up, meal times, planning/running cabin games and activities, mediating camper conflict, homesickness, going with campers to their activities, encouraging campers to try new experiences, and ensuring all campers had an overall incredible camp experience! I worked as a volunteer tutor for the 2020/21 school year through the New Canadians Center, primarily tutoring English to ESL teens. We focused on essay-writing, reading comprehension, and conversational skills. I have also tutored middle and high school level math classes (can teach up to Calculus II). English is my first language, but having attended an immersion school, I am also fluent in Spanish if you need someone to help with language. I also grew up in New York City doing professional theater, and taught dance and theater classes at camp over the summer, so I love helping kids with creative activities! I have expertise in Type 1 Diabetes management and I've cared for and mentored three children with diabetes (having T1D myself). If you need any reference contacts, or want to know more about me, don't hesitate to reach out! Lily
