Hello! My name is Lauren & I am a 31-year-old freelance artist/curator living in Vancouver. Currently, I work with a family who have two boys on the autism spectrum (ages 10 & 12), and babysit on a weekly basis for another family who have a boy & girl (ages 9 & 11). For many years, I was a preschool teacher/daycare supervisor at Blackbird Academy in Vancouver, BC. I also am available for cleaning services on top of childcare work, working professionally as a cleaner for Air B&B (on call). I am a graduate of Emily Carr University's degree program & I love to use my artistic background while working with kids- whether it's making crafts, singing songs, or dancing to upbeat music, I love having fun and allowing children to express themselves. I have experience working with children from ages 18 months to 12 years old, and I have a sincere understanding as what their needs are. I'm also more than willing & have proven myself able to learn more/be flexible with each child's unique way of being. I have spent lots of time with older children & young teens as well working in Art Camps. I have diagnosed ADHD & I am more than delighted to work with children who experience any learning/physical/mental disabilities, attuning to them & relating in a genuine way. I grew up with pets (mostly dogs), so I can help take care of yours if you have them as well! I am available most weekdays (with flexibility from both families & on-call job), and I live in Mount Pleasant (willing to commute if you do not live in this area). I have my First Aid certificate, and have completed my 12-hour Responsible Adult course. I have my driver's license (I have EVO car share but do not own a vehicle), however, I do love to walk whenever possible.
