Hello, my name is Amanda and I am 17 years old. You may feel like my age is an issue but I've had lots of experience with taking care of children of all ages. I'm a child care provider who also loves teaching children. I will be able to help your child learn as I take care of them, so they'll have a headstart in school. I take care of the two brightest little bursts of sunshine, Christopher (Squishy) and Sophia (Bubbles). Squishy was born in June of 2013 and Bubbles was born in October of 2014 and they are cousins. I took care of both of them from the moment they were brought home from the hospital after birth. Christopher was closer to me than anyone else and I used that to my advantage when I taught him. I always made sure that every day was educating, it would be something as simple as walking around the house and pointing to something and saying its name so that he would be able to recognize things as he grew up. I set up my own little classroom and they have desks and chairs and a whiteboard. By the time Sophia was born, Christopher knew his ABCs and Numbers and could have identified shapes and colors. Now, Christopher is 5 and Sophia is nearly 4. Christopher knows how to write and read and he knows basic addition and subtraction. Sophia knows her ABCs and Numbers and can identify shapes and colors. I’m working with both of them and I will continue to do so because they need someone to guide them through learning. I also ran a children's table at Proctors Theatre in Downtown Schenectady. My job there was to watch the children and keep them occupied while their parents shop at the Green Market. At times, I would have up to thirty children at once and I was the only caretaker. I was always able to keep things under control and my experience has given me an infinite amount of patience to deal with any situation. I taught the kids to draw simple things like flowers during Spring, Christmas trees and snowflakes during the Winter, etc. Having fun is important and it's a necessity, I will be able to play games with the kids, draw and color pictures, have them make arts and crafts that can be placed around the house. My goal is to always be a good experience for the kids that they will be excited to tell you about when they get home. I love children and I have a certain understanding of them and their needs. I am a freshman in college and I'm studying early childhood care and elementary education. Lastly, my relationship with you as the parent is also very important. I am completely trustworthy and I know the ethics of being a caretaker. I will always ask for permission and make sure you're okay with whatever I'm doing with your child and I will always complete my job. I hope you will consider my application. Thank you for reading!
