Hello, my name is Matildah Omenya and I believe this is a great opportunity to get some experience and further my interest in childcare. I believe I would be a good applicant for this job because of my successful completion of numerous advanced placement and high-performance classes during my freshman and sophomore years in high school. I know this job will give me the experience and commitment I am looking for. Though I already babysit a three year old and a five month old baby from time to time, your job position caught my interest because I would have the chance to extend my knowledge with children of many ages, and expand skills with the staff and parents. As my resume indicates, I have volunteer experience, extracurricular activities, and am First Aid/CPR/AED certified. I work as hard as I can in my academic work, but I also find time to joke around, which adds to my shy persona. Though I am often quiet, I carry a loud appearance and have been told that I touch many through my actions, which makes me a leader in many ways. I set an example, not only in my academics, but in my workplace, home, and church. I also am recognized for my volunteer service at Maple Grove Hospital in the Family Birth Center as a Unit Attendant. My upbringing has also shaped how independent I am. Growing up in a household with parents constantly out of the house working 3-4 jobs. An experience such as this has caused me to grow up faster than my peers, and on top of that being a woman of color I am often looked down on upon, but that has not stopped me from being consistent in my work. By applying to many programs of high caliber, seems virtually impossible for women of color to be accepted, I have ignored preconceived notions, and come out successful. I hope I will have the opportunity to engage in this experience!
