Hello All! My name is Whitney. I am a fifth-year senior at California State University, majoring in Social Work, minoring in Sociology and expected graduation date of May 2014. I have worked with children for years! I started with babysitting my nephews as soon as they were born. I have tutored children in English, math, and reading. I have also worked for a child care center, where I officially fell in love with working with children. Currently, I am a camp counselor for children of military families in different countries in different countries (last summer I was in Japan, this time I have been chosen for Germany!), a peer health educator at Sacramento state emphasizing the importance of a balanced diet and a healthy lifestyle, and I am also an elementary school social worker where I plan, create and implement group curriculum for fourth grade girls (teaching them about building self-esteem, positive peer/personal relationships, etc.) as well with a second/third grade classroom (teaching about empathy, problem-solving, and anger management skills), and I tutor/mentor individual clients using strength-based methods and therapeutic interventions to solve basic needs and connect them to community resources.
