Sitter in Goleta, California

Hi there! I'm Solee, a former YMCA swim instructor, camp counselor and family babysitter. During summers back in my hometown of Redding, I would supervise groups of up to 6 children in both indoor and outdoor pools. I learned how to simultaneously teach water safety skills while keeping each child entertained, engaged and most importantly, safe. I have also watched three of my little cousins grow up while babysitting them from ages 4 to 11. My absolute favorite thing to do was make them laugh like there's no tomorrow. Additionally, I started attending the annual NVCSS CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) Superhero Run about 5 years ago. I am proud to have been involved in a program that stands up for neglected and abused children in foster care. The most treasured experience I have working with children would have to be at summer camp. I, myself, have been attending Camp McCumber, a week-long camp in the woods, since I was 8 years old and now I go back every year to supervise a cabin. This July, I was the counselor for a group of 11 year old girls. For 7 days and 6 nights, I made sure they were having the time of their lives but also helped them find a solution during peer conflicts, took them to the nurse's cabin for cough drops, kept an eye on them during campfire and made sure they ate some veggies with their dinner. I can't wait to go back next year! Now I'm living in Goleta and I attend classes during the school week at the University of California, Santa Barbara for my communication major and music minor. I also work part-time for the UCSB Alumni Association on campus as a programs intern where I help plan events like the annual All Gaucho Reunion. I enjoy making art and music in my spare time. All in all, I would just like to say that I have always loved working with kids and if there are parents in my community in need of a little extra support, I would love to help out!
