Sometimes in life you figure out what skills you need to develop to gain what job you would like to have. Other times you discover who you are and that guides what passion you want to follow. I discovered early on that that I had a gift when it came to working with young children and children with special needs. The role of care giver and nurturer brings out the best in me and gives me a sense of purpose that allows me to be fulfilled while serving others. I first discovered this passion 9 years ago when I volunteered in a peer tutoring program in my middle school called HOPE, in which I was paired with classmates with special needs. It was here where I met my best friend to this day. She has Down Syndrome but she and I do not let that fact define her or our friendship. I see in her every potential and treat her accordingly. This is how I treat every child, with the mindset that they have every potential ability and dream and I derive great joy and satisfaction in helping them on their own path to this potential. After my initial experience in the HOPE program, I started volunteering at a therapeutic horse riding center, assisting young children with special needs as they stretched their boundaries and experienced growth and joy through the therapy. Immediately after graduating high school, I secured a job working in the Child Development Center at the Parish Episcopal School Child Development Center working with 3-month-olds through 4-year-olds. The next year I started working as a nanny, and took care of a newborn and a 4-year-old. I also took on other household responsibilities such as weekly meal plans, and grocery shopping and daily cooking, laundry, carpooling, and other household needs. My goal as a nanny is to give a preschool experience in a private in-home setting. I would love to plan daily activities and play to make every day as fun and educational as possible. I am looking for a family who needs someone to provide their children with educational experiences from the comfort of your home. From nature walks and learning about the outdoors to reading and math, I will provide daily activities and crafts to give children a preschool-like experience. I am comfortable with children of all ages and all developmental needs. Reference are available upon request.
