Hi my name is Karen! I moved to Vancouver from Ireland in October. I previously worked as a Community Support Worker here but am currently working Monday, Wednesday and Friday as a Nanny for a wonderful family. I am looking for work for Tuesdays and Thursdays to coincide with my current job! Can also babysit in evenings (mostly after 5.30pm) and some weekends. I have worked with people that had a wide variety of needs ranging from mild to severe intellectual disabilities, autism, challenging behaviour, physical disabilities, adverse health conditions, MS, quadriplegia and the elderly. I have performed a vast range of duties and ensured all persons I've worked with flourished and led a life of immense quality and fulfillment. I've worked closely with individual’s circle of support and local community to provide more opportunities and means of progression. I have a high degree of flexibility, compassion, empathy, enthusiasm, adaptability and interpersonal skills. I have much experience in assisting with all aspects of personal care, meal preparation and serving, stocking of weekly food and household items, housekeeping, laundry and many other tasks associated with the running of a household. Whilst obtaining my degree I learned about many different aspects of childcare including how important it is for children to grow up in a safe, stable and warm environment; with the freedom to learn, play and discover new things being especially crucial.
