I am a retired speech therapist with over 25 years experience in public schools. I also raised a family of four children. I am a widow and looking for a full or part time job as a nanny. I enjoy doing a variety of activities with children when I am caring for them such as reading to them, playing games or with age-appropriate toys. I also like to encourage academic skills as I have also tutored many students of all ages. I will color or paint or work with clay or do arts and crafts with them. I also like to make sure any homework is done. I will have a fairly consistent schedule so that all responsibilities are accomplished but will be flexible enough to allow for some fun time when work is done. I am good at calming children who need to be calmed when anxious or nervous or having a bad day. Some times when children are fussy it can be because they have not slept enough or because they are coming down with a cold or sickness. I am not opposed to caring for your child when he/she is sick. I like to read myself so will not just watch television when they are sleeping or taking naps. Each child is different so different tactics are needed to find what works best with them. I want to make sure the parents will is accomplished in letting the child know his parents love him very much so I would like to get to know you as much as possible and let you know what has transpired during the day or evening hours. I had been trained in CPR so will take a refresher course if you desire. I am a good swimmer and have a good driving record. I have a safe car. I speak a little French and am practicing to improve it. I also like to travel so will ask for time off in the summer for about 2 weeks. Thank you for reading and I hope we will make a good match.
