I'm looking to accept some precious little ones into my Special Needs Childcare program. I currently have three openings depending on the severity of the needs. This is not a therapy program, but I do house therapy equipment that I use on a regular basis to help my little ones who deal with Sensory Processing, Autism, ADHD, and other struggles. I am a licensed foster mother (but am not currently placed with children), and I have two biological daughters who are 8 and 10 years old. Because I'm a foster mother, I have a homestudy ensuring the safety of my home, as well several layers of background checks. I worked as a Developmental Technician as well as a preschool teacher in my twenties, and have worked more hands-on in the past several years alongside Physical Therapists, Occupational Therapists, Swallow Therapists, Speech and Eating Therapists as they worked with my special needs daughter and foster children to create therapy plans for each child that I could implement at home in our therapy room (please see pictures). As far as experience goes, like I said, I used to work as a Developmental Technician which allowed me to work with special needs little ones toward developmental goals such as tying shoes, stacking blocks, jumping, balancing, coloring, using a computer, etc....Outside of developmental therapy, I came up with and taught from my own curriculum as a Preschool teacher, and as a mother, I've done everything from loading/unloading/maintaining wheelchairs, cleaning around full-body casts, giving injections for a heart condition, fed through a syringe (feed tube), to things that are more behavior based such as redirecting poor behaviors, found creative ways to calm melt-downs, used therapy tools (such as chewies, weighted vests, weighted blankets, swings, trampolines, crash pads, squeeze machines, spinning devices, etc...), I've sought out antecedents to melt-downs and worked to provide a safe-feeling environment where the antecedents were no longer occurring or occurring more minimally, OR ideally, teach the child how to anticipate the situation and maneuver within it. If this sounds like what you're looking for, I'm available for childcare from 9:00 AM - 2:45 PM. The rate would depend on the needs of the child, but the flat rate begins at $50 per day and increases with the level of needs required and hours that would extend the hours I have listed (as early as 6:30 AM and keeping them as late as 6:30 PM). Diagnoses I'm familiar with are listed below. This by no means states that I know everything about every diagnosis listed, but I have a good foundation and knowledge base of what's going on and what's helpful or not helpful for kiddos dealing with these types of conditions, plus if they're listed, it means that I've had hands-on experience with each diagnosis.
