I'm an
Agency / Company
Adnana Sinziana Popovici 10-6640 ...e Ave Montreal/QC H1T3G6 September 1st 2019 I am interested in the job opportunity of Caregiver/Nanny/Educator/ABA Therapist because I have been working with children diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder since September 2008. I have experience but even more important I love to work with kids in helping them discover and develop their strengths and help them become better suited to our society. Since I started working with children with a diagnosis, I have applied various ways of teaching, the broadest examples are verbal manding and early intensive behavioral intervention. I have worked with 3 children ranging from 7 years old to 12 years old from September 2008 till September 2011 and since January 2012 to the present time with 5 children ranging from 4 and a half years old to 6 years old. While working with these children I have applied positive reinforcement, no punishment and error-less learning. I have achieved the following goals with these children: verbal manding, detailed verbal description of pictures, objects, situations and people; turn taking in games, less rigidity to change; the importance of math in our daily lives and social acceptance of other individuals differences. My duties as an EIBI therapist under the care of a supervisor were as follows: • Assist child with participation in scheduled activities within the house hold or the centre • Establish and maintain nurturing and professional relationships with the child and their family • Create a welcoming atmosphere, warm and reassuring for children to stimulate their learning process • Provide activities that stimulate the identified areas of the child’s development • Encourage integration of the child with peers, and vice versa • Observe each child to know his tastes and abilities. • Model appropriate interactions with all children • Work as part of a team with staff of the centre • Assess and suggest modifications for the early childhood programs to maximize the child’s participation • Be punctual and consistent at early intervention sessions • Assist the child in activities to support in their learning and achieve the goal of these planned activities • Notify families as early as possible in the event of an absence. • Physical involvement including walking, heavy lifting, bending, running, as well as controlling aggressive behavior. • Collaborate with families to provide optimum support for child • Plan and organize the activities and daily schedule • Maintain regular and frequent contact with the child’s family to discuss the program • Meet with families once every 2 - 3 weeks to review and/or set goals for child • Prepare the space to ensure that activities are carried out effectively and ensure a smooth transition between activities • Attend case conferences and team meetings involving service providers and families • Support families in the development of their child and with parenting skills, where necessary • Assist families by identifying other support agencies when and if needed • Encourage autonomy of the child, support him in his initiatives, assist to take responsibility and solve problems • Maintain accurate daily documentation on child’s activities • Provide progress reports due every month during the team meetings with the supervisors and the therapists involved or as needed depending on the child • Report progress of each child on a weekly basis to the coordinator of the program • Facilitate the development of an early intervention plan for each child with parents, therapists and other professionals that work with them, including goal identification, intervention strategies and means for evaluation; • Create resources to assist child in their development • Continually research disabilities and disability issues • Identify areas for professional development • Attend and provide input at regular staff meetings • Assist with other duties as required The qualifications that i have achieved since working in the autism field are as follows: • Studying psychology as my major at Concordia University • Knowledge of child development; • 6 years experience working with children with disabilities in an early childhood setting • Ability to develop individualized learning plans and to systematically monitor and document children’s development; • Independent work skills and self motivation • Strong verbal, written and communication skills • Demonstrate ability to work as part of a team. • Computer experience and fluency in any software required of the position. • Adhere to client confidentiality and code of conduct put in place by the Society for Autism • Ability to perform the duties of the position with empathy and compassion for persons with disabilities without becoming emotionally attached to the client I have worked with various supervisors like Anna Przadka and Kelly Wilson . I look forward to discussing my qualifications further and can be reached by email at [email protected] or by phone at (514) 56.... I can also provide reference letters on request.
