Hello, My name is Emily Erin, and I have been working with children for almost fifteen years. I also have experience with individuals with special needs, infants, seniors, and youth. I have First Aid/CPR-C AED, Aquatic Emergency Care, and Wading Pool Attendant certifications. I hold a Bachelor of Arts in Religious Studies, combined with two minor emphases in Parish Services, and Music. I have experience working with a variety of families from various backgrounds, and enjoy learning about people. I am very creative, and have an extensive Fine Arts background. My experience with individuals and families comes from a combination of sources in both individual, and group settings: formal work experience, volunteering, university Practicum, classes, and familial experiences. I love languages, and have basic knowledge of French and Italian. I am also non-smoking, and animal friendly. My philosophy: Every individual is diverse and unique. Children have some common characteristics, but no two children are the same. As care providers, this requires us to be unique and creative in the ways we interact, teach, and communicate with them. Every person holds immense value, deserves respect, and has a story. Not all learning should "feel like school", but learning can and should be happening everywhere. Furthermore, children teach us just as much as we teach them, and this mutual sharing is very important in building relationships. What I am looking for: I currently hold a part-time administration position, so I am looking to work with children and families part-time on a schedule that fits with my other job. I work downtown and live in south-central Edmonton, so something near those areas would be ideal, but is not compulsory.
