Sitter in Grand Rapids, Michigan

I have been a Certified Professional Nanny for over 12 years. I graduated from Northwest Nannies Institute in Lake Oswego, OR in 2005. After graduating I worked for the temporary nanny service through the nanny school. This gave me a great opportunity to work with many different types of families and many different age groups from 6 months to 13 years old. Eventually I took a full time nanny position with one family and I cared for one boy and one girl, ages 14 months and 2 years old when i started. I was with this family for a total of 7 years (with a few years off in between when I lived out of state.) When I left that job they were 10 and 11 years old and no longer required a nanny. I am still very much a part of their family tho. We still get together for dinner every few months and I still take the kids on outings once in awhile. Even tho they are both teenagers now, they still seem to think I'm cool! haha! My second full time nanny position was caring for one girl age 3 years old when I started. She is a special needs child with mental and physical disabilities. I was with this family for 3 and a half years. When I left she was 6 years old and started going to school full time and I moved out of state. I also still keep in touch with this family. I would also like to add that, before I became a nanny, I have over 5 years experience working in a group home with 8 adult clients with varying mental and physical disabilities. I am also currently CPR/First Aid Certified in infants, children and adults. I love being a nanny and watching kids grow up. Watching and helping them play, learn, laugh and have fun is very rewarding for me and I really enjoy being a part of their lives. I am definitely a hands on kind of nanny. I love getting right down on the floor with them and playing or running around with them! I am pretty much a tomboy and love taking kids on adventures outside. I am not afraid to get dirty or hold an awesome worm they found! haha! I also love arts and crafts, dress up, music, dancing, etc.! Hugs and snuggles are always good too! Good communication between myself and the parent(s), working as a team and finding the right fit for everyone involved are also very important things to me. A little bit about me: I just moved to Grand Rapids at the beginning of June. Before this I lived in Portland, OR for a total of 17 years. I was born and raised in a small town in Iowa. I have also lived in Florida, New York City and Kauai, HI. I moved here with my husband and our awesome 12 and a half year old dog, Blondie.
