JOB PROFILE: The Child Care Centre Supervisor assumes responsibility for the day to day operations of the Child Care Centre. The supervisor reports directly to the owners and will act as the point of contact in all facets including, with the ministry, parents, community etc. The Supervisor is responsible for program planning, working effectively with staff, working with families and children, connecting with the community, mentoring students and administrative responsibilities related to the day to day operation of the Child Care Centre. The Supervisor is responsible for providing leadership in keeping with the philosophy of Early Learning and Child Care as well as for quality client service to foster student success. MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES: Administration: - Assist the owners with the development and monitoring of the Child Care Centre’s budget. - Maintain provincial standards. - Maintain a safe environment for children and to create a relaxing and welcoming atmosphere. - Plan and implement activities to meet the physical, emotional, intellectual and social needs of the children in the program - Develop activities that introduce math and literacy concepts - Provide various experiences and activities for children including songs, games and story telling - Regularly contact, and act as a resource for, parents and caregivers. - Encourage parental involvement in the Child Care Centre. - Receive and record daycare fees - Develop monthly and yearly statistics about number of participants, costs of equipment, supplies and maintenance Staff Supervision: - Manage resources effectively to ensure that staff work as members of a team, have input into planning and have opportunities for improving their professional skills. - Provide coverage for absent Child Care Givers when required. - Conduct staff meetings at least once a month and to support professional development. - Provide support and direction to caregivers regarding child development. - Provide feedback/input to owners for annual appraisals on each caregiver and all other centre employees. - Establish policies and procedures including acceptable disciplinary policies - Ensure children are supervised at all times - Assist owners with the hiring process and make recommendations on staffing. - Ensure equipment and the facilities are clean, well maintained and safe at all timesPublic Relations: - Promote a positive image of the Child Care Centre to the community. - Maintain adequate liaison with the appropriate agencies, professional associations and other child care programs in the city. - Act as an ambassador for the municipality at all times - Be knowledgeable, informed, and current on child care philosophy. REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS: - Formal training in Early Childhood Development, (ECE) diploma/degree - Registered with the College of Early Childhood Educators in good standing - 2 years plus experience as a supervisor in a child care center environment - Submit to a full criminal record check - Infant/Child First Aid Certificate - Be familiar with emergency procedures - Financial management - Human resources management PERFORMANCE COMPETENCIES AND CRITERIA: - Demonstrated ability to set and meet goals, achievement of business plan objectives - Demonstrated ability to make informed decisions and to follow through on decisions made - Demonstrated knowledge of the profession and ability to apply that knowledge in the program. - Demonstrated effective communication and interpersonal skills - Demonstrated teamwork with internal and external contacts – being able to work collaboratively with others in a participative environment - Demonstrated organizational abilities to be evaluated by maintaining necessary documentation and providing reports to owners for agreed upon intervals as well as keeping hard copy and electronic files in an orderly fashion. - Demonstrated ability to be tactful – being respectful and polite when dealing with people; and being able to appropriately deal with people in difficult situations PAY: - To be determined based on incumbents experience Please email cover letter and resume to [email protected] Thank you for your application.
