I'm an
Individual
Working with children is something that I am greatly enthusiastic about, and I have qualifications and numerous experiences as a caregiver, teacher, and leader. I am passionate about working with youth of all ages, and I hope to contribute my talents and knowledge. I am a very enthusiastic and positive individual who is extremely devoted to bringing happiness and enjoyment into lives of others. In my roles of being a caregiver, coach, and leader, my main goal was/is to ensure that I have left a positive influence on the people that I have interacted with. My hope is that I can create an environment where both parents and their children feel safe, enthusiastic, and supported. I have spent the last 4 years working with numerous families who have children with different disabilities. Working with individuals with special needs is based on being genuine, caring, and having great and adaptive communication skills. I have the ability to not only be a great listener, but to understand different individuals needs, and get them to take action; I believe this will lead to happy home and a positive experience. I am dependable, punctual, and exceptionally hard working. I will provide outstanding care giving for you and your family. I have shown in every position I’ve held that I’m both dedicated and continuously focused on providing positive results to the people that I help. At the University of Victoria, I was the vice president of a club called Circle K, that is part of Kiwanis. Kiwanis is the largest student led volunteer organization across Canada. I was responsible for planning, coordinating, setting up, and executing different volunteer events and activities. Through the experience of being the vice president I have developed an array of leadership skill that I believe will enhance my ability to be a strong caregiver. During my time in Calgary, I attended the weekly W.E.S.O.A.R. program as a volunteer as well as ran my own program in the spring of 2015. In Calgary I also worked as a gymnastics instructor for typical youth and a special needs class for teens. The youth classes consisted of children between the ages of 1-5. Through the experience of being a coach, I learnt many skills that I believe would be a great attribute to the being a nanny; in order to be an effective coach you have to be creative and imaginative, know how to set rules and boundaries, adapt to different learning styles, and want to have a positive impact on others lives. In my role as a group leader at Between Friends, Camp Bonaventure, I had the opportunity to learn and grow in my abilities as a leader, as well as my skills in adaptability and patience. Working with individuals with disabilities for the past 4.5 years has allowed to be gain wisdom in understanding that each and every individual is exceptionally different, and therefore, the way in which they learn, communicate, participate, and interact will change from person to person; all of this leads to having to be adaptable, creative, and continuously enthusiastic. I got to create program plans that were malleable, age appropriate and inclusive. This included planning different, educational, and exciting new crafts and games that everyone could enjoy. All of these experiences required commitment, organization skills, leadership, and dedication. It is because of these experiences and attributes that I know I will be able to be a positive attribute to your family and home. I have my CPR and First Aid Level C, as well as medication training and basic sign language. I love music, dance, games, and indoor and outdoor activities. I would be more than happy to supply references if wanted or required.
