My name is Diana Womack and I have 3 grown children (2 young ladies, 1 young man). I currently have a 16 year old nephew that I've had since he was a week old. My husband, youngest daughter, and myself went to New York to get him from the hospital when he was a week old; so you can say that I have 2 sons and 2 daughters. I'm 57 years old with no grandchildren. Besides raising my four children, I've help raise my nieces and nephews. When my children were living at home, they would always have their friends to hang out/sleepover at my house. I guess I was considered the cool mom; always the designated driver. But, I didn't mind because I knew where they were if I dropped them off. I was always considered a second mother to all of their friends, they all still call me ma. In 1998, I received a certificate in Childcare/Social Worker from Danville Community College in Virginia. I became a childcare provider for Social Services (DSS) after graduating with my certificate. I did childcare for Social Services for over 15 years and enjoyed every minute of it. It amazes me how the children that I once watched as infants and toddlers, are all grown up. Where did the time go? I'm really proud of what good citizens some of them have become. In particular, a sister and brother are in the military. I was so proud when their grandma told me. Others are pursuing careers of their choosing. I'm proud of them all. I don't have an exact count of how many children I've watched, but if I had to guess, I would say at least 50. Being in the company of children, is what I love to do. I have a bachelor degree in Sociology that I obtained through Mary Baldwin University and 2 classes away from a masters degree in Educational Leadership. I'm not quite sure if I want to teach or not, but I do know for sure that working with children is my passion. I'm currently up to date with my TB test and I've recently had a Child Protective Service (CPS) check and State Police background check. I can provide references if needed. Oh, I almost forgot the most important part, I love to color in one of the many adult coloring books that I own , paint, and play games. My siblings refer to me as a big kid, but I don't mind because I'm doing what I love. With all that's been said, I just want to assure families seeking childcare for their little ones, that besides having 17 years of experience as a childcare provider, I believe in being fair, and I treat all children the way I would expect mines to be treated if they were receiving childcare services.
