Hello, my name is Janet Barrow, and I am a soon to be graduate of Bard College in Annandale-on-Hudson, where I have studied Written Arts. I am currently finishing up my Senior Thesis, which is a magical realist novella based on John Cleeves Symmes Junior's Hollow Earth Theory. I am very interested in the arts -- literature, visual, film, etc., and I believe my propensity for creativity is perhaps what makes me love being around children so much. I have spent time working as a tutor for elementary and middle school students, and, while at Bard, have worked as a baby-sitter for a few different families, though my primary position of care has been during the past eight months for a little girl who just turned 15 months. I have a drivers license, and I am a very capable cook (I have been living in a co-operative for two years, so I'm used to cooking all the time/cooking for large groups), and I don't mind cleaning or other housework. I really love being around children, and engaging with them creatively. I love watching the growth process, and I believe that a lot of growth is also to be had on my side by spending time with little ones. I am punctual, active, and engaged, and I would really appreciate the opportunity to help out this summer and possibly beyond.
