I have have been a camp counsellor almost my whole adult life and have 3 years experience teaching children ages 8-11 how to dance. I love children's imagination and fearlessness and would like the opportunity to help them harness that energy into project creation and ideation of thought. Personally, I am a very visual and kinaesthetic learner. When I was in grade school my guidance counsellor was convinced I had a leaning disability. As a mature student I have ben tested again and it has been concluded that I never really had a learning disability, but rather that I was one of the few students to admit that the current way I was being taught was confusing me. That reading from a test book and answering questions with no interaction with my peers or teacher frustrated me. My point to my sharing this story with you is that I am very aware that everyone learns in different ways, that there are many kinds of leaning and that there are many different ways to measure intelligence. I bring an open and honest environment to the children I teach, where they can feel comfortable to express their frustrations and their achievements. I allow children to have a voice and to ask questions. As a current mature student at George Brown College, I have a 3.89GPA . I am a tenacious, intelligent, and empathetic individual. I hope I can get the opportunity to use these skills to teach your children.
