Before moving to New York I lived in a neighborhood that was filled with children. I would frequently get asked by my neighbors to watch their kids while they ran errands or for multiple hours at a time. I would never mind doing this because I got along really well with the kids in my neighborhood and they were always drawn to my personality. I loved joining them in games and making sure they got enough activity outside, always after finishing homework and chores of course! In addition to babysitting, I have also obtained several jobs with children. During the summer of 2016 I was the residential assistant at a summer dance intensive. My specific age group of girls was ages 15-16, but I was also mentoring several other kids in the program. I have also been a dance assistant and instructor to kids ages 7-12 and loved being able to share my love of dance with them. Once a dancer that took my class told my boss "I love Ms. Shelby, she is awesome!" This honestly made my day. Since then I have taught dance to several age groups and have always had a strong bond with my students. I have a very friendly and bubbly personality, so I always get along with the children and I am able to relate to them, but also teach then lessons whenever necessary. In addition to getting along well with kids and always dancing, I love movies, activities, and arts & crafts!
