I worked all my with children since I was 16 years old. I taught Sunday School, Children's Church for two years before entering Elon University where I majored in Human Services. My first work experiences professionally was as a Social Worker providing transportation and services in a rural county to promote health care. I then worked for about 5 years as an investigator in Child Protective Services as an advocate for helping children and families at risk. I left Social Work and began working in Day Care settings when my two toddlers were small to be more available as a a working mom. When my sons entered public school, I worked with a special needs child in public schools as her tutor and helper during the school day. I drove a school bus with the same elementary school. I have worked as a private tutor to a special needs adult. I taught private Kindergarten in an accelerated private school for three years. In addition to raising my own two sons as a stay-at-home mom and as a working mom, I believe in caring for children as I cared for my own. My last position in Day Care was working with four year old children preparing to enter kindergarten. I have taught from birth through five year old children in licensed day care settings. My last two years I have taken off public work to bond and help with my twenty-two year old quadriplegic stepson after marrying his father. My philosophy of child care is to provide a safe and secure place for children to develop at their natural rate with opportunity through play, social interaction and positive discipline to reach their full potential of learning. Each child is individual and special. Each child has his own way to learn and communicate. My job is to creatively assist this process.
