Hi there! My name is Emily and I have always greatly enjoyed working with children and making a difference in their lives, which is what has inspired me to pursue a degree in Elementary Education. During my first clinical student-teaching experience last year, I was able assist in a third-grade classroom and this time simply confirmed my passion for working with kids. I worked to help them with their studies, lead them in new lessons, keep their behavior in line, keep them on-task, and encourage them to do their best. Most recently, I worked over the summer at Added Advantage Child Care for the Gull Lake School District. This was a daycare service that included field trips, active games, plenty of crafts, and more. I loved working in childcare and be able to have fun with the kids in a variety of ways but also work with them on learning opportunities! Even prior to experiences like this, I have worked with young students in a variety of different ways. Through opportunities offered by the Gull Lake National Honor Society, I helped lead and work with younger students in the community during Fun Nights and Community Events. I was also able to get involved with the community by working as a coach at Gull Lake volleyball camps and at the local club volleyball team camps. In addition, I have worked as a mentor to an autistic student through the Gull Lake Peer-To-Peer program, and have much experience babysitting kids, also including some with learning disabilities.
