Hi! My name Katie Sons and I am looking for a family that is in need of an experienced child care provider. My experience includes: Working at a licensed day care for nearly 2 years, working with Sanger ISD as a Special Education Aide for 2 years, working at Cumberland Presbyterian Children's Home as a Youth Care worker. While working at my previous job (the licensed day care) I worked as a Pre-K teacher, Toddler teacher, Infant teacher and Afterschool teacher. This opened up a whole new world of learning experiences that I am passionate about. I became very interested in Early Childhood Education and decided to take a CDA class (Child Development Associate). There I learned so much! I learned the VERY important role early education plays in a child's future and many ways to positively provide love, care and education to set children up for success. I'm a BIG supporter of Conscious Discipline. It is my belief that discipline does not equal punishment. It is a way of teaching your child to recognize and handle their feelings and reminding them how to behave. The ultimate goal of conscious discipline is to help your child gain self-control in such a way that does NOT include scolding, raised voices, or threats. A young child's mind is an innocent, wonderful, pliable object and if we can teach them at a young age how to recognize their feelings along with how to control those feelings, we will be setting them up for success. If you choose to hire me to look after your little one(s) I would really like you to know that you will not just be hiring a babysitter. You will be hiring a professional who will make it their duty to not only love and care for your child(ren) but also to implement early childhood education by preparing developmentally appropriate curriculum based on the individual child. A few more things you should know about me: I am optimistic, punctual, motivated, and easy to get along with. I have a very strong work ethic and thrive on educating myself in early childhood development.
