Hi there! My name is Leah, and I'm looking for child care jobs during evenings, weekends and breaks from school. I am a very responsible, and reliable 24 year old who absolutely loves working with children. From eight years of babysitting/nanny experience to working as a behaviour therapist for kids with autism, I am confident in my ability to provide your child with a loving, stimulating environment. I am a very energetic, creative, and patient individual who loves to keep kids busy through crafts and activities, running around outdoors with them, and relaxing with stories and Disney movies (I proudly know The Lion King, The Little Mermaid, and Frozen songs pretty much by heart). My training and experience as a behaviour therapist has given me the ability to assess why a child is engaging in a particular behaviour, and the appropriate strategies to deal with it. My experience as a therapist has also given me knowledge on how to implement antecedent strategies to prevent problematic behaviours from occurring - for example: First/then, time warnings before change in activity, giving choices, and positively reinforcing good behaviour already occurring. Another important quality I have, is that I'm a fast learner who values good communication with both the parents and children. I'll ask questions to make sure we're on the same page according to routine, eating habits, health concerns, and behaviour management. I can easily follow a recipe or throw in a precooked meal if care falls around meal times, and I also have a vehicle and experience taking kids on outings if that ever applies to your family. Additional Experience/Qualifications: -Past volunteer for a Running and Reading program - coached children over a 32 week period each year to run a 5k race, as well as provide one-on-one reading and vocabulary assistance -Up to date CPR/First Aid certification (received March 2018) and can confidently respond to emergencies. -G level drivers licence -Bachelors degree in Cognitive Science (studied, learning, behaviour, language acquisition, cognitive development etc) -Helped run a playgroup for kids 1 years old to 5 years old as a part of high school parenting class.
