I have a degree in History Education and have worked the last 8 years in some capacity with children of all ages and languages. I come from a very close family, and understand the value of it in a child's upbringing. I have worked with children for many years, first as a babysitter throughout high school and college, and then in the classroom during my teaching internships, and most recently as an Au Pair in Germany. I understand how hard and chaotic working with children can be, and can be very flexible in accommodating this. I am an energetic, and fun person who enjoys spending time with children. I am very easy going, but firm with children. They are first and foremost my priority, but they are absolutely not allowed "walk all over me." I know that it can be more of a challenge with some children than others, but I am a patient and even-tempered person. Most importantly though, children need to be shown love and understanding, and that I can provide in abundance. As I mentioned earlier, I have worked most recently in Germany as an Au Pair for two families (the first with two girls 7 mo-2 years and the second with three boys ages 3, 5, and 8). It was an incredible experience and I am so glad to have been a part of their lives, whether it was rocking them back to sleep, reading (for probably the 500th time) Green Eggs and Ham, or being a (spectacularly untalented) goalie in a soccer game. Along with these experiences I learned quite a bit about communicating with children through a language barrier, as my 3 and 5 year old were not bilingual, but it was a challenge that I quite enjoyed.
