Head Teacher Responsibilities: -Plan and execute appropriate activities for the children each day in art, music, language and motor development. -Write out weekly curriculum and post them in the classrooms. -Plan and execute appropriate activities for the children each week in science, math and multicultural experiences. -Observe and evaluate each child's progress and provide a written report to the director and parents at least twice during the year. -Work cooperatively with staff members and parents. -Be available for parent's conferences when necessary. -Notify the Director of personnel in the event of an absence. -Greet each child and parent, by name in assigned group each morning. -Responsible for the welfare, health and safety of the children in the group. -Responsible for the supervision of the group in the bathroom. -Assist with clean-up at the end of each activity and at the end of each day, vacuuming, dishes, tables, toys, etc. -Notify Director when supplies are running low or when toy or equipment are in need or repair. -Attend monthly staff meetings an parent functions. -Assist in cleaning and sanitizing throughout the day. Qualifications: -Be at least 18 years old. -Have completed high school or its equivalency as determined by the department of public instruction. -Have worked for 120 days half-time or 80 days full-time providing direct child care as a child care worker or volunteer in a licensed day care center, kindergarten or early childhood program approved by the department; or be certified by the Wisconsin department of public instructions as a nursery school teacher or as an exceptional educational needs teacher or show evidence of meeting the qualification for certification. -Have earned 2 years of documented credit in an institution of higher education with at least 3 credits equivalent to early childhood education or have satisfactorily completed 80 hours of department approved training in early childhood education, have Child Development Association (CDA) credentials or have satisfactorily completed another department approved competency program. -Have obtained a CDA certificate or equivalent within six months of hire. -Each child care Teacher shall obtain a certificate from The Registry (the Wisconsin early childhood professional recognition system) within 3 months after assuming the position.
