I have been working with children since I was 13/14 years old. I always knew that working with children was what I wanted to do with my life. I helped raise my younger brother, who was diagnosed with Autism at the age of three. I would be lying if I said that it wasn't a struggle at times, but it has made me a much stronger, patient and compassionate person overall. Throughout high school, I completed countless hours of community service in local daycare and elementary schools. I babysat for four different families, each with multiple children of all different ages. Most undergraduate students begin taking their educational courses during their junior year in college after they complete their pre-requisite courses. I was fortunate enough to be given that opportunity, and it greatly increased the amount of opportunities and experiences I had throughout my college career to work with children. During my college experience, I completed countless hours of community service, service-learning projects, internships and tutoring sessions with children of all ages and abilities. I have worked with students who have very mild disabilities and I have worked with students who have extremely severe disabilities. I am very comfortable working with any child, no matter what struggles they may or may not face.
