Talented early education professional with diverse experience in planning and implementing various activities for promoting physical, social, emotional and intellectual growth of children. Recognizes the importance of the parent-child bond and believes in regularly communicating with each parent. That is my objective on my resume! It tells you what I am capable of doing but not who I am. I am 43 years old and have been working with children since the age of 16. I started as a camp counselor at my sleep away camp and later on became the arts and crafts specialist. I worked at the camp for 4 summers and loved every minute of it. Straight from High School, after I took an internship as a preschool assistant at a school for the deaf, I realized teaching was what I wanted to do. I worked for the same private pre school in NYC for 10 years. At the same time, I also worked as a night nurse for a newborn and later on worked with a set of girl twins. I am still in touch with them. The girls are on Facebook and graduated from college! Wow, I feel old! I attended Hunter college and studied with a major in Early Childhood Education and received my Associates, but due to my 2 other jobs, it was too much on my plate, and school took a backseat. Part of my job at the preschool in NY was leading in children's art, music, and cooking birthday parties. Occasionally, I was to dress up as a clown! Nothing can ever compare to the priceless look of the little's face as I pranced around singing silly songs and making balloon animals! Once, my job with the private families came to an end, I started working at the school full time as a front desk/customer service representative. It was here that I really learned how to work with people, both big and small. At the age of 30, I finally had my own daughter and took leave of the preschool. It was not for another four years, when my family moved to Pa, that I decided to dip my toes back in the water, and took a job in the infant room at a local daycare. I remained here for a couple of years. While I love working with all ages, I can say with 100% certainty, that newborns are the most beautiful angelic creatures on the face of the earth. Everyone loves babies. It is a joy to take care of them. I currently live in Delray Beach and have a clean drivers license, reliable transportation and impeccable references, both professional and personal. I am a non smoker. I love to read with children. My own daughter, who has been reading since the age of 2.4, is a college level reader at 12 years of age. I have encouraged reading and even travel with my own set of phonic based books (Jolly Phonics). Please look it up. At 3.5, my pre-K class started Jolly Phonics and by school end, 85% of the children were reading 40-60 sight words and had all 26 letter sound recognition down. It is awe inspiring watching children make meaningful connections! This is what brings me to work each day. You can rest assure, that your child would be not only safe, (which is also a major priority),eating healthful foods that we BOTH make together, but happy and also learning through play while we are together. You can rest easy, knowing that you will be able to count on me to be on time, rain or shine, whether your child is sick or not. You can count on being able to reach me no matter where I am so that you will be able to speak with your child if need be. You can count on your house looking the same way you left it as I will encourage your child to clean up and will clean whatever they are not able to. I also, will have an in depth conversation with you on your discipline practices and will follow whatever protocol you feel comfortable with. Understand, I am an extension of you when you are not with your loved one. I just want everyone to feel comfortable with the daily routine we set up and if you are not that kind of family but wish you were, I can help you develop some positive routine practices for your child (family) to follow. If you are not that kind of family and prefer not to be, I am extremely open minded and will adhere to whatever practices you see fit. Some families are very free form and I can work in any kind of family. All in all, just wanted to introduce myself and let you know what to expect should we move forward.
