Families need all the help they can get these days and I am an excellent helper! I have 25 years of experience of working with children from infancy through high school and beyond. I raised my own special needs child with diabetes (including blood sugar monitoring and insulin injections) and have obtained extensive knowledge of nutrition, supplementation, and healthy meal preparation. I have and AA in early childhood education and spent three years as a preschool teacher while I finished my BA and California Teachers Credential. After completing my teaching credentials I taught for several years in first grade, fourth grade where I taught all subjects. Then I taught math, algebra, science, biology, chemistry, arts and crafts in both middle school and high school. After leaving the teaching profession full time I started my own craft business where I made and sold beaded jewelry. But I found I missed working with children. I have worked recently as a substitute teacher and with summer art camp programs but I prefer a longer period of time to get to know children and their families. I like teaching children life skills that are age appropriate that they can use for the rest of their lives. For example it's fun to teach preschoolers how to give each object in the house its own home and place to be snug and comfortable, as well as neat and tidy. I like to teach elementary age children how to form mental pictures from a story read to them or how to crate word pictures out of words they can write themselves. And everyone benefits from being taught how to shop for and prepare food and do their own laundry. I can work with children of all ages on homework and am an excellent tutor. I can provide pet care, light house work, as well as some shopping, and meal preparation. I look forward to being part of the joyful journey that is your family's life!
