Play based early childhood program with influences from Play Counts!, Creative Curriculum Model, and Tom Copeland. Tuition includes all materials, healthy meals and snacks made primarily from whole foods, and a full day program with hours available between 7:30 am and 5:30 pm, a schedule will set up that works for each individual family. This program includes and builds within the children: kindergarten readiness, math awareness and math skills, pre writing and basic writing skills, social and cooperative skills, science exposure and awareness, music skill building, daily exercise in fantastic back yard home “park” space influenced by “Nature Explore” early childhood outdoor classroom spaces, Children that attend Sunshine will be adequately prepared for kindergarten through their social skill development, academic knowledge base, manners, self- help and real life skills, building independence including reinforcing or building toileting skills. -Participant in the federal Child Nutrition Program - CACFP -Registered as a Child Development Home through DHS -Iowa City Ready, Set, Go! Quality initiative with visits from Teachers and Support staff to offer new and innovative ways to teach the children and serve the families -Large Class garden outdoors -Bi-weekly Music Class with West Music Teacher -Frequent Walks / field trips / exposure and help learning to be a helpful member of our communities QRS Rated Level 4 program Able to provide preschool experience for all families including recipients of the “School Readiness Grant” -Main Teacher is Ms. Allison with over 33 years of experience in the high quality early child hood learning environment field providing direct care and teaching -Trained substitute available for parents ease to cover appointments Continuity of care is vital and critical for a solid early childhood base. We prefer to have children stay at Sunshine from age 2 until Kindergarten. Ages 2-5 are welcome to enroll. Non smoking home
