Hello, my name is Jenn and I am operating a licensed (and pet-friendly) dayhome in the community of Shawnessy. Nearby and surrounding communities include Millrise, Midnapore, Sundance, Bridlewood, Somerset and Evergreen. To introduce myself, I am a mom to a 7-year-old boy and a wife to a wonderful husband. I am also a highly trained, certified Child Development Supervisor with over 12 years of experience in the child care field (with my last 3.5 years teaching preschool aged children). I have worked with many children with special needs and I am constantly upgrading my skills in order to help those requiring assistance (such as my own son who was recently diagnosed with combined ADHD). I have extensive knowledge of, and follow, Alberta Health and Safety Protocols as well as Alberta Child Care Licensing Standards. I also have numerous references from parents, up-to-date first aid / CPR certifications, food handling certifications, a police clearance check and I will provide receipts for income tax purposes. Subsidy is also available for those who qualify as I am registered with a dayhome agency. In my dayhome, I ensure that your child will be provided with the following: - 2 homemade meals per day - 2 snacks per day - lots of room for explorations - high quality care that emphasizes respect and independence and encourages all areas of your child's development - a well balanced approach to learning where emergent learning and "play" is balanced with scheduled / planned activities - a variety of activities that will support your child's needs and interests - outdoor play at least twice per day (weather permitting) I believe that when I am interested and excited for something, it shows and my excitement or interests encourage children to explore, create and engage in different experiences. And this is why I also believe in providing a balanced curriculum where children have the option to participate in scheduled or planned activities as well as to play. I believe that Albert Einstein said it the best when he stated "Play is the highest form of research".
