I'm an
Individual
Must come see to appreciate this daycare. I teach piano, guitar, percussion, and stage performances, with song and dance. We put on little performances for the parents periodically to show you how your child is growing in performing arts. I feed healthy snacks and meals, we also garden and learn to grow healthy food. Extra curriculum with a fun reading program. Call anytime to set up a time to come see. Ages one month to 12. 1-53... http://....com Professional Piano Lessons (also guitars, accordions, drums, keyboard, bells) Once a week your child will receive professional piano lessons. Each child’s name will be in a notebook on the piano. This notebook contains practice lessons they can perform at home. Parents can also monitor progress and growth this way. If piano is not their niche, I have guitars, accordions, percussion instruments, keyboards, and choir bells. Every child I’ve cared for has a talent with at least one of these instruments. However, I encourage them to select piano as their first instrument because I believe piano is the root of instruments. Music has a profound affect on children, and I enjoy helping your child to grow to his or her abilities through music. Lights, Camera, Action! – Performance Coaching I provide a stage and lights in my daycare. We practice a certain performance every day, until they are ready to perform. Children regularly perform their routines and shows as parents become their first audience. This takes place in the evening, with enough notice to allow all parents to attend. This helps children overcome shyness, builds self esteem, and fosters creative thinking. Shows vary from piano recitals, choreographed dances, and solo singing. Healthy Food and Cooking Classes I provide healthy snacks and full course meals for all children. I make most meals from scratch, including breads, main courses, and juicing. I encourage children to eat fruits and vegetables, and drink lots of water. Kids are given the opportunity for hands on kitchen experience. We use our kitchen time to learn about measurements, counting, shapes and culture. Children learn how to dry fruit, which we call, “fruit candy”. Every Friday, the kids and I make pizzas together, and the kids choose their toppings from a wide variety of vegetables. Gardening Techniques I teach gardening year round. Kids start seedlings indoors, and plant them outdoors when the season is right. Gardening allows children to explore nature in a more intimate way, and encourages healthy eating. Even if children do not like vegetables, they frequently become interested in eating the vegetables they have grown themselves. I love seeing to joy and excitement on their faces as they watch their plants grow. Curriculum & Reading Comprehension Program I provide curriculum for all ages which include the four competencies of mathematics, science, writing, and reading. Even toddlers have a chance to participate as I teach them how to hold a pencil. I encourage reading with a special program that focuses on comprehension. We discuss the story in detail after each reading, which ensures comprehension. If the child does not understand the book thoroughly, we review again until he or she fully understands the material. For older children, I encorporate a reading rewards system. As they read more books, I quiz them to make sure they understood what they read before they move on to the next book. Exercise Programs Since I work out everyday, I encourage the kids to do it with me. We work on stretches, aerobics, and calisthenics. This also teaches them a healthy lifestyle. Daily Routine Having a regular routine gives children comfort and stability. I find that kids thrive when they understand structure. The only time we go off schedule is when our performance practices take a little longer. The kids take regular naps as needed. I also build in free play time, with plenty of time outdoors. Safety Training I provide fire drills with a fire alarm once a month. Children learn emergency exits, and what to do in case of a fire or disaster. I also teach kids about stranger danger through role play scenarios. Arts & Crafts During the holidays, I lead kids in creating themed crafts. But we also do projects throughout the week which includes painting, coloring, cutting and pasting. I always monitor children to be sure they are safe and pick age appropriate projects.
