I guess I'll start by saying that I've always really loved being around kids, and that I grew up taking care of my little cousins, family friends' children, etc. A lot of my experience is very informal because of that! However, once I got older, I had the opportunity to get involved with various mentoring programs that have certainly shaped the way I see child care and development. For a couple of years I mentored children from 8 to 18 years old, teaching them skills that range from verbal communication to physical self-defense. Now that I am in my Junior year of college, I found that babysitting is just the perfect way to stay in touch with kids and continue to share amazing experiences with them and their families!
