Sitter in Toronto, Ontario

I'm an
Individual
I am a 30 year old university graduate from Ottawa, and am now living in Toronto. I work in grant management for a charity. I miss working with children, and would love to babysit! I work 9 to 5, Monday to Friday, and am available outside of those hours. I am living in Canada again after teaching ESL for 2 years in South Korea. I taught young students (aged 3 years to 13 years old) a range of subjects, including social studies, history, life skills, reading, manners, and art. I was primarily a preschool and kindergarten teacher. During these years as an educator, I created a curriculum that emphasized pronunciation, comprehension, and conversation. The most important aspect of my job, however, was encouraging the emotional growth of my students, through creating a trusting and friendly environment. It was essential to me that they learned to socialize well and respect everyone around them, while fostering a thirst for knowledge! Prior to teaching, I spent many years working in customer service and office administration. These career paths taught me numerous skills, such as organization, time management, and multitasking, but I found working with children and watching them grow to be much more fulfilling. This love of children must stem from my personal life, as I am one of 7 siblings and have always loved spending time with my family! My first niece was born in December 2015, and living with her for the first 9 months of her life was quite an education on caring for infants! I began babysitting after taking a babysitting course at age 12, and have babysat many many times in the years since. In terms of education, I have a Bachelor of Arts degree in History, with a minor in English. I am also a certified TEFL (Teach English as a Foreign Language) Teacher. I have had police, vulnerable sector, and fingerprint checks in the past due to my work abroad. I am certified in first aid and CPR. There are many services I provide which I feel could enrich the lives of children. I love creative outlets, particularly dance and music! I have directed several musical productions with kindergarten students and loved how they responded. I am also an avid reader, and believe that storytelling and reading are so important to a child's imagination and curiosity about life. Additionally, my travels through many countries have given me a greater understanding of the world, and I could share stories and photos. I speak basic Korean and conversational French as well, and would be happy to practice these languages with children. When working with children, I would like to be an educator and role model to them. I hope to work as a babysitter, and experience the fulfillment and joy I did as a teacher, here at home in Canada!
