Hello! Thank you for your interest in my child care service. Whether you are changing daycares or starting daycare for the first time, I understand how traumatic it can be for both the parents and children involved. Finding a child care provider that meets your child's needs and that you feel you can entrust with the care of your child can be very nerve wracking. I feel it is very important for the parents and the provider to have a very open and friendly relationship to best meet the needs of the children, so I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself and my family. As mentioned in my flyer, we do have a pet-friendly home. We have two dogs, who are very friendly and LOVE children! I have two beautiful children of my own – a nine-year old son, and an 18-month old daughter. My son is in fourth grade and is actively involved in his Cub Scout Pack. My daughter has been at home with me since she was born in March 2015. Her favorite things are music and books! My husband is a wonderful, Christian man. He works as a welder and fabricator in Warrenton, MO. and he is a den leader for my son's Cub Scout Pack. We are members of the Church of Christ at Foristell, in Foristell, MO. If you have any questions about our family, please, feel free to ask me! I have an educational and employment background to support my work as an in-home childcare provider. After I graduated from Silex High in 2007, I attended a private Christian college where I obtained my Bachelor’s Degree – a General Studies degree in Elementary Education and Psychology, with a minor in Biblical Studies. During my time as a college student, I worked at a child care facility there, where I gained great experience for what I hope to do for the rest of my life. Upon graduation, I moved back to this area and immediately took up employment at The Goddard School in Wentzville as a lead preschool teacher. There, I got an even wider-spectrum of training and experience to prepare me for a career in Early Childhood Development. I did take a short break from 2013-201..., but quickly realized I was missing out on what I am great at doing! I was missing out on what I love – children! After my daughter was born, I started caring for children out of my home so I could stay home with her. With the start of the 2016 school year, the children in my care left my in-home childcare with an empty nest, which I am looking to fill! The childcare service I provide is family-style. Although I have some preschool projects that I do with the children, I do not teach children like we are in a preschool. We have a family setting and my focus is to teach the children life skills such as respecting others, sharing, using polite manners, following instructions, responsibility, anger control and problem solving. I feel these skills are necessary before children enter a school setting. I do not take childcare lightly, nor do I consider myself to be a “glorified babysitter.” Rather, I see myself as one who helps children discover all the ways that they are able to learn, develop and problem-solve through their imaginative and creative play. Childhood is such a rushed time in our lives, with everyone pushing kids to be faster, smarter, and busier each and every day. My goal is to provide children with a place where they can slow down and take time to develop and grow at their own pace, without all the pressure! Each child is different, and therefore deserves the chance to learn how to solve life’s problems – big or small – in their own way. I like to use daily scenarios to teach little ones to be prepared to think and use the life skills they learn in my care. I like to consider my home to be the “home away from home” for the children in my care. To me, they are an extension of my family, and in that aspect, so are you! Please, feel free to ask me any questions you have – now or in the future – regarding my child care service. I would love to talk with you and answer any of those questions you may have.
