To whom this may concern, My fiance' and I both work outside of the home, and needed someone to care for our children on Saturdays. So we posted and ad on Care.com. After interviewing several possible candidates, we finally interviewed Latrease and knew within minutes we had found a needle in the haystack. We were so grateful that she felt we would be a good family, as well. She provided care for children beginning in May. Our daughter felt completely safe and secure in her care. For example, our daughter struggled with some separation anxiety at first; However, Latrease was always supportive, and helped to come up with ways to ward off the tears, and make Saturdays easier for my daughter, and for me. It didn’t take our kids, or us, long to realize that she was in very safe hands. Being a mom herself, Latrease has a very nurturing personality. She always exhibited patience and kindness when working with children. By modeling this behavior, she was able to teach the children how to interact respectfully with one another. When conflicts did arise, she always remained calm, and helped the children work through their differences, teaching them how to work, play, and problem solve together. Recently the kids daycare that they attend during the week to close for 3 weeks due to the flood and refurbishment. So we asked if Latrease mind caring for the kids while we work. She accepted so we began bringing them to her home. Her home was always clean and kept child proof. She also offered various educational activities, as well as healthy snacks and meals. But what I respected most about Latrease’s child care was how selective she was about the families she cared for. She understood that with every child that entered her childcare came the family values and beliefs that they were learning at home. Because our son was spending a great deal of his day with these children, it was very important to us that he was interacting with children and adults who would expose him to what we felt were appropriate and respectful behaviors. Latrease's selection process ensured just that. We had no hesitation at all leaving our infant with Latrease. We had been able to watch the way she interacted with children of all ages, and knew that our son would be in very safe, nurturing hands while we were away. There is nothing harder than leaving your baby in someone else’s care, and Latrease made the transition so much easier for our family. It is with great ease that I would recommend Latrease Thomas as a child care provider for any other family in need of child care services. She can most certainly offer everything a family would be looking for in a provider. Sincerely, J. Hardin
