Hello, my name is Susan. I have three children of my own; two grown and one in high school. I love music and art, and enjoy taking old pieces of furniture and junk and making them new again. I am honest, dependable, a non-smoker, don't drink or do , don't live on technology, and am well-liked by children and parents. I have worked with children for over 25 years, either in ministry or a professional classroom. For the past five years, I have been the art teacher at Westwind Elementary School, seeing almost 700 K-5th grade students per week. While there, I have had numerous hours of staff development, dealing with all kinds of child development issues. The children loved my class and many called me "The best art teacher in the world!" The reason I am not returning is the stress. We are a low-income school, which is a very challenging environment, especially on an Aide's pay. Before Westwind, I was employed at Trinity Parent's Day Out. I assisted in classrooms for ages 18-months to 3 years of age. I also lead in a 2-year-old classroom. We were required, by law, to have a certain number of hours of pre-school child development classes, every year. When I left, I had taken over 40 hours of classes. I have had first aid training and CPR certification. It just needs to be renewed. During an over-lapping period of time, my husband and I lead the Elementary Children's Ministry, at Church on the Rock. I attended our Ministry Training School, taking more pre-school development classes. I did all the props and decorations for, and helped run, VBS, summer camp, etc. at camp, I was in charge of crafts. I also went on mission trips to Kenya and Mexico, where I assisted in orphanages, did puppets and object lessons, and helped with ministry to neighborhood children. I am willing to pick-up or drop-off kids, do light housework, run errands, cook, walk dogs, do laundry, or help with homework. I will negotiate on pay, either weekly or hourly.
