I am a bilingual third year student currently completing a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing at The University of Ottawa, and believe I have the skills and attributes to excel in this position. After obtained my Babysitting Course Certificate from St. John’s Ambulance at the age of thirteen, I started babysitting for various families around the neighborhood as well as my two younger brothers. In high school, I completed the Summer Youth Volunteer program and a cooperative credit program at Hotel Dieu Hospital. During my cooperative program, I got the chance to work in the playroom of the Children’s Outpatient Clinic. I also volunteered in the Pediatric Unit at the Kingston General Hospital for a summer during high school. Through these terms, I developed the ability to work with and take care of children of a variety of ages. In addition, excellent communication, patience, and listening skills were necessary in interacting with patients, visitors and health care professionals on a regular basis. As you will see from my resume, I have also worked for H’art School of Smiles, a school for adults with developmental disabilities. My experience as a Teacher’s Aide has allowed me to develop excellent organizational and time management skills. During this time, I often organized and orchestrated activities for the students. Within the past year, I have also completed a Clinical Rotation in Obstetrics as well as Pediatrics.
